Privacy Policy for 4Students

4Students ("we", "our", or "the app") is a campus marketplace and community app for college students. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using 4Students, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information that you provide or that is generated when you use the app:

Phone number (optional)	Phone sign-in and, if you choose, as contact info on posts
College, year, and branch	To connect you to your campus marketplace and community
Profile photo (optional)	To personalize your profile
Listings, requests, and challenges you create	To provide the marketplace, roommate finder, and sports features
Chat messages and images you send	To enable messaging between students
Ratings and reviews	To build trust between buyers and sellers
Device push token	To send you notifications (only if you enable them)

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account.
To operate the marketplace, roommate finder, sports challenges, and chat.
To show your public profile information (name, photo, college) to other students.
To send notifications about messages and activity, if you enable them.
To keep the community safe (handling reports and blocks).

3. What Other Users Can See

Your name, profile photo, and college are visible to other students within the app. Any listing, request, challenge, review, or message you create is shared with the relevant students. If you add contact details (such as an email or phone number) to a post, those students can see it. Please do not share information you want to keep private.

4. How Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database), a service provided by Google. Firebase processes and stores data securely on Google's infrastructure. See Firebase's Privacy and Security information for details.

5. Sharing of Data

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers. Data is shared only:

With other students, as described in Section 3.
With Google Firebase, our infrastructure provider.
With Expo's push-notification service, to deliver notifications you enabled.
If required by law.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Edit your information anytime from your profile.
Disable notifications anytime from Profile → Settings.
Delete your account: Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, listings, requests, challenges, and related data.
Block or report other users from their profile or a chat.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our database. Some content (such as messages already delivered to another student) may remain with that student.

8. Children's Privacy

4Students is intended for college students aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
